Suit filed against driver after passenger allegedly punched women

GRETNA – A Terrebonne woman is seeking damages after she alleges she was punched after addressing a reckless driver.

Donna B. Laurent filed a suit against David M. Richard in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 13.

According to the claim, Laurent was on her front porch in Grand Isle when the incident occurred on May 22, 2015. The suit states that Richard was driving his SUV in a violent manner near an empty lot near where children were playing. The suit further states that the plaintiff's friend confronted the defendant about the driving, asking that he stop. At this time, a woman allegedly came out of the defendant's vehicle and physically assaulted both the plaintiff and her friend by punching them.

The defendant is accused of tort of battery through the actions committed.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by William A. Stark of the Law Offices of William A. Stark in Houma. The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.
