Man alleges he was injured when transport basket line broke

LAFAYETTE – A technician alleges he was injured while working on a platform in the Gulf of Mexico.

Ryan R. Kinnerson filed a complaint on May 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Lafayette Division against Arena Offshore LP, Sparrows Offshore LLC and Texas Crew Boats Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 25, 2015, he while he was working on the course of his employment with Oceaneering International INn. aboard defendant Arena's offshore platform, defendant Sparrows was performing maintenance work at defendant Arena's crane and defendant Texas was providing transportation services at said platform.

The suit states that the plaintiff, together with other individuals, were being offloaded onto the deck of the vessel Ms. Claire in Arena's basket when the basket's tag line broke, causing it to spin out of control and strike the deck, throwing him onto the deck and causing severe and permanent disabling injuries.

The plaintiff holds Arena Offshore LP, Sparrows Offshore LLC and Texas Crew Boats Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide a safe place to work, failed to provide proper equipment and failed to provide proper supervision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in his favor damages reasonable under in the premises, together with legal interest, for all costs of this proceedings and for all other just and equitable relief.
