Trip and fall at the Esplanade Mall allegedly injured woman

GRETNA – An Orleans Parish woman is seeking damages following an incident in which she was allegedly caused to trip and fall on a cracked portion of pavement.

Tezrah Price filed a suit against Simon Property Group Inc., doing business as Esplanade Mall, Esplanade Mall Limited Partnership, Esplanade Mall Operating Co. LLC, Associated Waterproofing Corp. and XYZ Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 26.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was caused injury while at the Esplanade Mall located in Kenner on June 5, 2015. The suit states that while exiting the main entrance of the mall, Price was caused to trip and fall from an unmarked crack in the pavement. The crack allegedly caused the plaintiff to trip and fall in a violent manner.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failure the o maintain the premises in a safe manner for visitors, failure to warn of present dangers and overall failure to maintain the mall in a safe fashion.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Edward J. Womac Jr. and Matthew Sutton of the Law Offices of Edward J. Womac Jr. & Associates in New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darrensburg.
