GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages following an incident in which she was allegedly caused to fall from a ladder due to a faulty door.

Kristen Bentel filed a suit against Hollywood Door Co. Inc. and Scottsdale Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 25.

According to the claim, Bentel was completing a job at Take 5 Oil Change in Jefferson Parish on June 8, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that while at the location, a door that had been repaired by Hollywood Door Co. malfunctioned. The suit states that the door's error resulted in the plaintiff falling off of a ladder and injuring her arm on some glass.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failure to repair the doors fully or properly, failure to use reasonable care and allowing a dangerous situation to exist.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Richard D. Roniger II, Robert P. Charbonnet Jr. and James S. Rees IV of Charbonnet Law Firm in Metairie. The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
