Kenner couple alleges faulty toilet line caused flooding damage to home

GRETNA – A couple claims that a faulty toilet line resulted in damages to their home.

Allstate Insurance Co., Stephanie B. Hunts and Duane P. Hunts filed a suit against Barnett Inc., Interline Brands Inc., AIG Specialty Insurance Co., MTD (USA) Corp., Everlotus Industries Corp., ABC component parts manufacturer and XYZ seller in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 14.

According to the claim, the plaintiffs are the owners of a home located at 3208 Grandlake Blvd. in Kenner. The suit states that on June 13, 2015, a toilet supply line which was manufactured and distributed by the defendants malfunctioned, resulting in flooding of the residential property.

The defendants are accused of unreasonably dangerous construction of components through failure to follow the proper standards for manufacturing.

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. They are represented by Bonita Preutt-Armour, Donna M. Johnson, Tinashe Eugene Chimwaza and Heather D. Sutton of Alexandria. The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Danyelle M. Taylor.
