LAFAYETTE — A St. Mary Parish man man is suing local law enforcement officials, alleging he was wrongfully arrested.
Ke'von Tramar Loston filed a lawsuit June 29 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana Lafayette Division against the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Mark A. Hebert, sheriff deputy Sennet Wiggins, sheriff deputy Beau Martin and Richelle Bowman, alleging wrongful arrest and detention.
According to the complaint, on July 2, 2015, Loston was wrongfully arrested and/or detained for the crime of theft of an ATV. As a result of wrongful arrest and detention, the suit says, he sustained substantial damages, including, mental and psychological anguish, and lost wages.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants wrongfully abused the judicial process to have him arrested and jailed him for false charges as a result faulty police work.
Loston seeks a trial by jury, compensatory damages of $1 million, attorney fees, court costs, as well as any other relief the court deems just and appropriate. He is represented by attorney Pride J. Doran of Doran & Cawthorne PLLC in Opelousas.
