GRETNA – A St. Charles Parish parade float manufacturer has filed suit against a carnival club seeking reimbursement for alleged breach of contract and damages to parade floats.

Rizzuto & Co. LLC filed a suit against The Mystic Krewe of Titans Carnival Club Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 30.

According to the claim, the defendants were responsible for the provision of permits as well as coordinating the floats from the plaintiff's float den to the location of the parade staging area in Slidell. Following the carnival season, the plaintiff allegedly requested that the defendant reimburse them for damages done to the floats during transport, which was approximately $16,450. However, the defendant both failed to reimburse for such damages and additionally moved to end the contract two years before its termination, the suit states. The plaintiff alleges it is owed $92,600 for the breach of contract.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract through failure to pay the value requested by the plaintiff and breaching the time frame of the contract.

The plaintiff is seeking $92,600 and $16,450 in damages. The plaintiff is represented by James Bearden of J.W. Bearden & Associates PLLC in New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.
