Financing corporation alleges trucking company owes $481,000

Contract 02

NEW ORLEANS — A financing company is suing a Louisiana trucking company, alleging failure to pay more than $481,000.

People's United Equipment Finance Corporation filed a lawsuit Aug. 12 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against AJ's Truck Service Inc. alleging breach of contract and unpaid debt.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 29, 2016, People's United exercised its option to accelerate the unpaid balance of the indebtedness of $481,236.58.  The plaintiff alleges AJ's Truck Service has failed and refused to make the required payments and failed and refused to surrender and return the remaining equipment.

People's United Equipment Finance seeks a trial by jury, an order directing the sheriff to seize and sell the un-returned equipment, the contractual amount of $481,236.58, plus interest, attorney fees, cost of court and all other relief to which it is justly entitled. It is represented by attorneys Benjamin W. Kadden and Jay P. Farmer of Lugenbuhl, Wheaton, Peck, Rankin & Hubbard in New Orleans.
