By Carrie Bradon | Oct 4, 2016

GRETNA – A woman claims that she was harassed and not given the full amount of protection that she deserved from her insurance company to cover property damage.

Margaret Fitzpatrick filed a suit against Maison Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 17.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was the owner of the property located at 1900 Metairie Court. The suit states that in December 2015, a plumbing line in the plaintiff's home collapsed, causing substantial damages to her property, including the floor, kitchen and wooden areas. The suit also states that when the plaintiff filed the incident with the defendant, she was harassed and asked irrelevant questions concerning the incident and was not fully reimbursed for the damages suffered.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract, negligence and other counts.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Joseph F. LaHatte III of the LaHatte Law Firm in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee V. Faulkner Jr.
