About Families Inc. alleged to owe unpaid minimum, overtime wages

Law money 04

LAFAYETTE – A home health service worker has filed a class-action lawsuit against an Alexandria business over allegations she and others are owed unpaid wages.

Sandy Bonton Wright filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on Oct. 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Lafayette Division against About Families Inc. and Patsy Ware alleging that they violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked for defendants in excess of 40 hours per week without receiving a minimum wage rate or overtime premiums for all hours worked in excess of 40. The plaintiff holds All About Families Inc. and Ware responsible because the defendants allegedly misclassified their employees as independent contractors, failed to pay minimum wages and proper overtime compensation and failed to keep records.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for unpaid wages, plus interest, liquidated damages, costs of litigation and such other equitable relief as the court deems proper. She is represented by Kenneth D. St. Pé of Kenneth D. St. Pé LLC in Lafayette.
