Beneficiary alleges life insurance benefits were wrongfully denied by Primerica

NEW ORLEANS – An insurance beneficiary alleges she was wrongfully denied benefits.

Walterine Carter-Smith filed a suit against Primerica Life Insurance Co., Sedrick Thomas and Andrew Robinson in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Oct. 10.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was the beneficiary of a life insurance policy for her decedent, David Carter. The suit states that Carter died in 2015 and that the Primerica denied her application for death benefits. She holds the defendants responsible because she alleges Carter was not shown the life insurance policy's terms when he signed it.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Darryl Harrison of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.
