NEW ORLEANS – A St. Tammany Parish woman alleges she was injured while on a European riverboat cruise.

Sharen Martin filed a complaint on Oct. 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Scenic Tours USA Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 27, 2015, she was a passenger onboard defendant's vessel Emerald Star vacationing from Amsterdam to Basel. While walking down a hallway in a safe manner, she alleges she tripped and fell because of a stainless steel strip in the flooring. She claims she sustained injuries to her face and right shoulder because of the fall, which required surgical intervention. The plaintiff holds Scenic Tours USA Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide warning or signage to alert passengers to the hazardous condition and failed to take corrective actions.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all sums reasonable in the premises, plus interest, for all costs of these proceedings and for all general and equitable relief. She is represented by Joseph M. Miller, Benjamin B. Saunders and Carisa German-Oden of Davis, Saunders, Miller & Oden in Mandeville.
