Duferco Steel alleges it is owed more than $24,000 for damaged cargo

NEW ORLEANS – A company alleges its cargo was damaged in shipment.

Duferco Steel Inc. filed a complaint on Oct. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against M/V Celeste, Celeste Navigation Inc., AM Nomikos Transworld Maritime and Western Bulk Carriers alleging breach of warranty, conversion and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that as a result of defendants' negligence, it sustained damages of more than $24,898.41. The plaintiff holds M/V Celeste, Celeste Navigation Inc., AM Nomikos Transworld Maritime and Western Bulk Carriers responsible because the defendants allegedly breached their duty to perform their obligations by delivering plaintiff's cargo in non-conforming and contaminated conditions.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in its favor in an amount of more than $24,898.41 plus interest and costs and disbursements for the action and such other relief that is just and proper. It is represented by W. Sean O’Neil of W. Sean O’Neil in Houston.
