Family alleges child's IV was not monitored while under care of Children's Hospital

NEW ORLEANS – A family is seeking damages, claiming that their minor child was caused to be injured because of an improperly monitored IV.

Bridgette Waling, wife of/and Ryan Waling, individually and on behalf of their minor child, filed a suit against Children's Hospital in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

According to the claim, the plaintiffs' child was given an intravenous line on Aug. 7, 2013, while being treated at the defendant's facilities. The suit states that the child should have been monitored regularly, but that this was not done. The suit states that the child began to complain of extreme pain the following day and that the child was required to go into surgery in order to remedy the situation.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. They are represented by Daniel W.Nodurft of Chalmette and by Brian D. Page and Renee Robichaux of Robichaux Law Firm in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.
