NEW ORLEANS – A man is accusing a business partner of fraud and other counts.
Rick Sutton filed a suit against Jack Adams, Charles Adams and Polly Point Imports Corp. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Nov. 18.
According to the claim, the plaintiff and Jack Adams were business partners. The suit states that in October 2014, Jack Adams attempted to have the plaintiff arrested upon false accusations that he was trespassing. Since then, the plaintiff alleges Jack Adams has taken numerous actions which violated the agreements, including changing the plaintiff's passwords, removing him from all checking accounts and removing him from the payroll.
The defendant is accused of violations of the Louisiana Racketeering Act, violations of the Unfair Trade Practices Act, fraud and misrepresentation against the plaintiff and breach of fiduciary duty, as well as detrimental reliance.
The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Preston L. Hayes, Matthew A. Sherman and Patrick R. Follette of Chehardy, Sherman, Williams, Murray, Recile, Stakelum and Hayes of Metairie.
The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Regina Bartholomew Woods.
