Worker claims Woodward Design + Build did not secure scaffolding, caused fall

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish man claims that he fell from scaffolding while working on a construction project.

Jose Villareal filed a suit against Woodward Design + Build LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Nov. 29.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was trying to walk on a temporary surface that had been placed by the defendant when the incident occurred on April 21, 2016. The suit states that plaintiff was caused to fall more than one story in the incident, sustaining serious injuries because the wood on the walkway was not secured.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by Dominick F. Impastato and Anthony J. Impastato of Frischhertz, Poulliard, Freischhertz and Impastato in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
