Orleans Parish woman claims RTA failed to ensure bus passengers were seated before driving

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish woman is suing a transportation company, claiming that she was caused to fall on a bus.

Barbara Wade filed a suit against Veolia Transportation Services Inc., doing business as Regional Transit Authority (Transdev Services Inc.), and XYZ Insurance Company in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was board the Regional Transit Authority bus No. 258 when the incident occurred on Dec. 13, 2015. The suit states that the plaintiff fell when the bus moved before she was seated.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to ensure that the passengers were safe and failure to proceed at a safe speed.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Pius A. Obioha, Kelly S. Love and LaMarre T. Elder of the Law Offices of Pius A. Obioha & Associates LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Paula A. Brown.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case number 16-12057.
