Patron alleges broken ankle after fall at LA Ray Hairy Gallery

NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that she was caused to slip and fall down eight steps while pregnant.

Nia Mitchell filed a lawsuit Jan. 12 against August Williams, Susan G. Williams, XYZ insurance company and LA Ray Hair Gallery in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was a patron of the La Ray Hair Gallery on Sept. 9, 2016. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to slip and fall down eight stairs. The plaintiff, who was pregnant at the time of the fall, was caused to break her ankle, the suit states.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failing to maintain the premises, failing to warn the plaintiff of the danger and other acts of negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. She is represented by attorneys Edwin M. Shorty Jr. and Nathan M. Chantella of Edwin M. Shorty Jr. & Associates in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
