Business partner accused of taking equipment

NEW ORLEANS – A former business partner is suing a construction company, alleging he is owed damages for a business venture in which equipment was taken.

Johnny Riley filed a lawsuit Jan. 11 against Ricardo Silva, doing business as Silva Construction in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, Riley and Silva Construction entered into an joint venture for the raising of a home in New Orleans. The suit states the plaintiff paid $20,500, but the defendant took possession of a jacking machine that was not stated in the agreement.

The lawsuit states Silva Construction has continued using the jacking machine to make money and complete other jobs, despite demands made by the plaintiff.

Riley seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. It is represented by attorney Max M. Chotto of Gretna.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.
