Cyclist blames motorist for injuries

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish woman is suing a motorist, alleging she was struck by a car door while riding her bike.

Stacy Hall filed a lawsuit Feb. 16 against Louis Broussard, Michel J. Felton, Felton Ventures LLC, Government Employees Insurance Company and XYZ Insurance Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 24, Hall was riding her bicycle riding northbound on Esplanade Avenue Orleans Parish. The suit states she was injured when Broussard opened the door of his car, striking Hall and knocking her off her bike.

The defendants are accused of negligently failing to look out for cyclists, failing to see what he should have seen and overall recklessness.

Hall seeks reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. She is represented by attorney Charles M. Thomas of Huber, Slack, Thomas & Marcelle LLP in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.
