Contract 06

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans couple is suing a contractor, alleging breach of contract.

Karen Marks, wife of and Bennie Marks filed a lawsuit Feb. 9 against Bridges Builders Construction Group LLC and Earin Bridges in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging breach of contract in failing to perform work.

According to the complaint, on July 15, 2015, the plaintiffs entered into a written contract for the completion of work at their residence, 7321 Restgate Road, New Orleans. The suit states the Markses became aware that the city of New Orleans had put a pause on the defendants' work due to the expiration of permits and licenses from Bridges Builders. Despite having paid the defendants $70,000, the suit says, Bridges Builders Construction Group has failed to complete the work that the contract outlined.

Karen and Bennie Marks seek all reasonable damages and court costs. They are represented by attorney Al. M. Thompson Jr., in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Paula A. Brown.
