ALEXANDRIA – A St. Mary Parish man alleges his Morgan City employer terminated his employment after he took a medical leave.

Thayer A. Pisani filed a complaint on March 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana against Conrad Industries Inc. alleging that the former employer violated the Louisiana Employment Discrimination Law and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was hired by the defendant as a crane operator in 2001 and that he took a medical leave from October 2015 to January 2016 to recover from a pinched nerve in his back. The suit states that on Feb. 1, 2016, he was terminated form his employment.

The plaintiff holds Conrad Industries Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly discriminated against him, refused to enter into the required interactive process to determine whether any accommodation would have resolved any of the defendant's concerns and refused to allow him to return to work.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, litigation expenses and all further relief as the court deems just and appropriate. He is represented by Paul F. Bell of Bell Law Firm LLC in Baton Rouge.
