Woman alleges she was wrongfully terminated by Offshore Specialty, Specialty Diving of Louisiana

Wrongful term 10

NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish woman alleges she was wrongfully terminated after reporting sexual harassment.

Lori Johnson filed a complaint on March 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Offshore Specialty Inc., Specialty Diving of Louisiana Inc., ABC Insurance Co. and Omar Bassa citing the Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired as a saleswoman in 2015 by Offshore Specialty Inc. and Specialty Diving of Louisiana Inc. and was quickly promoted to sales manager. She alleges Bassa sexually harassed her and that she was wrongfully terminated on March 15, 2016. The plaintiff holds Offshore Specialty Inc., Specialty Diving of Louisiana Inc. ABC Insurance Co. and Bassa responsible because the defendants allegedly terminated her employment in retaliation for bringing claims of sex discrimination and harassment against defendant Omar.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, costs of this action and all other general and equitable relief. She is represented by Jerri G. Smitko of Smitko Law in Houma.
