NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish woman claims she had to have revision surgery because of a dangerous medical implant.
Patsy G. Searcy filed a complaint on March 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against
DePuy Orthopaedics Inc., DePuy Products Inc., DePuy International LTD, et al.
alleging that they violated the Louisiana Product Liability Act and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 15, 2010, she underwent hip replacement surgery using defendants' Pinnacle System. Since then, she alleges she has suffered severe and painful problems and complications. She underwent left hip revision surgery in March and a new device was inserted, the suit states. The plaintiff holds DePuy Orthopaedics Inc., DePuy Products Inc., DePuy International LTD, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly defectively designed, developed, manufactured, distributed and sold the hip replacement device and failed to provide adequate warnings.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, jointly, severally and in solido, for all amounts reasonable under the premises, plus interest, costs of this suit and all appropriate and legal relief. She is represented by Irving J. Warshauer of Gainsburgh, Benjamin, David, Meunier & Warshauer LLC in New Orleans.
