NEW ORLEANS – AT&T is seeking damages after a vital cable was allegedly struck.

Bellsouth Telecommunications LLC, doing business as AT&T Louisiana, filed a lawsuit March 16 against Shack Calderon, the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans and Genesis Insurance Co. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff suffered damages on April 26, 2016, when a dump truck that was in use by the defendant hit an aerial cable.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to properly train employees, failing to see what they should have noticed, failing to ensure that they operated with an appropriate level of care and overall negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Michael B. Alker of Sutton, Alker & Rather LLC in Mandeville.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Paula A. Brown.
