Redevelopment authority claims Pontchartrain Park Community Development failed to improve property

NEW ORLEANS – A redevelopment authority is seeking damages for breach of contract.

New Orleans Redevelopment Authority filed a lawsuit June 12 against Pontchartrain Park Community Development Corp. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff and the defendant entered into an agreement Nov. 7, 2008, for the purchase of a property. The suit states that the defendant was required to make payments and improvements to better the property but that it breached a contract by failing to do so.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract by failing to take the necessary actions.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Carl A. Butler of Butler Law Firm LLC in Kenner.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
