Law money 12

NEW ORLEANS – A St. James Parish corporation is alleged to have failed to pay a former employee overtime wages.

Cesar Santos filed a complaint on June 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Rodrigue Planting Co. Inc. alleging that the former employer violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was a welder employed by the defendant for nine years and his employment ended in May. The plaintiff holds Rodrigue Planting Co. Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay additional wages at the rate of one-and-one-half times his hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 per week.

The plaintiff seeks payment for unpaid wages at the overtime rate as required by law, liquidated damages, attorneys' fees, interest and all costs of the proceeding. He is represented by Daniel B. Davis and Randall E. Estes of Estes Davis Law LLC in Baton Rouge.
