Woman claims she slipped and fell in a Family Dollar store

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages after she alleges that she slipped and fell in a Family Dollar store.

Lashawndra Kelly filed a complaint on Jan. 4 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Family Dollar Stores of Louisiana Inc. and Westbank Investment Group LLC.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Jan. 18, 2018, when the plaintiff was a guest in the Family Dollar located at 1 Westbank Expressway in Westwago. The plaintiff alleges she was injured when she slipped on a substance that had been left on the ground without being cleaned up or warned of. The plaintiff alleges the defendant was negligent through failing to properly handle the situation and avoid the incident.

The defendant is accused of negligence and failing to create a safe environment.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by D. Patrick Keating of Nugent Keating in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.
