Financial firm seeks to recover mortgage debt

NEW ORLEANS – A finance company is seeking damages over an overdue promissory note.

Finance of America filed a lawsuit March 7 against Edna Forthner Ben in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging sums due.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is the holder of a promissory note for the balance of $235,500. The suit states that the defendant has failed to pay off the balance of the note and is indebted to the plaintiff for $133,164.34 plus interest.

The defendant is accused of failing to pay off the note.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Jason Smith of Dean Morris LLC in Monroe.

The case has been assigned to Division Judge Melvin Zeno.
