NEW ORLEANS – A seaman alleges that he was injured while working aboard a towing vessel.
Isiah James Jones Jr. filed a complaint on June 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Deloach Marine Services LLC alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 19, he was employed by the defendant as a deckhand/engineer when he sustained severe injuries while working aboard M/V Zeland M. Deloach Jr. He alleges he has suffered disabling injuries that resulted in medical expenses and maintenance and cure.
The plaintiff holds Deloach Marine Services LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide a safe place to work and failed to provide appropriate equipment.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in the total sum of $2.5 million, plus interest and all further equitable maritime relief. He is represented by Berney L. Strauss and Rhett E. King of Staruss & King APLC in New Orleans.
