Chili’s sued after chair leg allegedly punctures, injures woman’s foot

GRETNA – A franchise restaurant is being sued by a man who claims a defective chair resulted in its leg puncturing her foot.

Ronin-Lynn Disler filed suit against Brinker Louisiana Inc., Chili’s Grill and Bar and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 6.

Disler contends she was a customer at Chili’s Grill and Bar located at 1741 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey when a chair leg, which did not have safety cap, punctured her foot. The plaintiff asserts she suffered permanent and disabling injuries in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing maintain a safe premises, failing to protect the safety of visitors, fielding to properly supervise employees, failing to warn visitors of the danger, failing to use reasonable care in maintenance and failing to take steps to avoid the incident.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of earning capacity, loss of enjoyment of life, permanent disability and attorney’s fees.

Disler is represented by Wesley J. Blanchard of Metairie-based WJ Blanchard Law LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.
