Steel fabrication company files $37K lawsuit against contractor for alleged non-payment

GRETNA – A steel fabricator is suing a local contractor for allegedly not fully paying for a 2012 subcontract on an apartment complex.

Manufab Inc. filed suit against TKTMJ Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 7.

Manufab Inc. claims that on Oct. 18, 2012 it was subcontracted by TKTMJ Inc. to fabricate and erect steel structures and other components on the Metairie Manor project located at 4937 York St. in Metairie. However, the plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to fully pay for the work done on the project. Manufab Inc. contends it is still owed $37,235.39 under the terms of the subcontract.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

Damages in the amount $37,235.39 is sought by the plaintiff.

Manufab Inc. is represented by Peter S. Thriftily Jr. of New Orleans-based Simon, Peragine, Smith & Redfearn LLP.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Stephen D. Enright Jr.

Case no. 749-465.
