GRETNA – A local Wal-Mart is being sued by a woman who claims she was run over by a line of carts being pushed by a machine.
Myrna Hosli filed suit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 7.
Hosli contends she was inside the Wal-Mart located at 8912 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie when a line of shopping baskets being pushed by a machine ran into her from behind. The plaintiff asserts she suffered severe personal injuries in the incident.
The defendant is accused of failing to maintain a safe place of business, failing to act in a prudent manner, failing to warn of the danger, failing to protect from unreasonable risks, failing to inspect and keep the premises safe, failing to discover an unreasonable danger, failing to take steps to prevent a dangerous condition, failing to warn and creating an unreasonably dangerous condition.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, discomfort, mental anguish, aggravation, annoyance, medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of use of parts of the body, bodily disability, impairment of psychological functioning, disability, destruction of earning capacity, loss of support, loss of society and loss of consortium.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel.
