Podiatrist accused of abusing mentally disabled patient

McGovern

A New Orleans podiatrist allegedly harassed and performed graphic sexual acts on a mentally disabled female patient, according to a lawsuit filed in Orleans Parish on March 4.

In the suit filed by attorney Glenn McGovern, Dr. Dernado Durham, DPM allegedly had "intentionally engaged in improper sexual acts" with his patient, Patricia King. The suit also alleges that Durham was aware of his patient's "diminished mental abilities" and exploited them.

The suit accuses Dr. Durham of "abusive, deviant, sexual behavior" and details a long list of graphic sexual acts he performed on himself and forced King into participating in. Durham allegedly performed the acts several times during his medical appointments with King.

The petition claims that Dr. Durham's actions were in violation of the Louisiana Medical Board Physician and Ethical Rules.

King is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages.
