Former NOPD officer's suit over red light camera ticket dismissed

Judge Rosemary Ledet granted a motion for exception for no right of action and dismissed a red light camera suit against the city of New Orleans on Friday in Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

Glen Forman, a disabled and former NOPD officer, filed a lawsuit against the city for a ticket he received in March from a red light camera. The ticket was later dismissed and Ledet ruled in favor of the city's motion, agreeing that there was no tangible interest for the plaintiff in the suit.

Forman also failed to show up for the hearing on Friday.

New Orleans assistant City Attorney Detrich Hebert filed the motion June 30, arguing that "because the citation was administratively dismissed, it lacks a legally protectable and tangible interest at stake in the litigation."

Before the ticket was dismissed, Forman attended an administrative hearing and asked to for the presence of a city employee or police officer that had seen him commit the traffic violation or had reviewed the photo of the incident but he was denied.
