Suit claims door fell on man's head when entering McDonald's

A Jefferson Parish man is suing a Canal St. McDonald's and its insurer, claiming that the door to the restaurant fell on his head when he was entering the premises.

New Orleans attorney Mark Smith filed the suit on behalf of Henry Maye in Orleans Parish Civil District Court on June 30.

The suit claims Maye was entering the McDonald's in December 2010 when the "entire door fell off of its hinges and struck Mr. Maye in the head," the suit claims.

The suit claims that McDonald's and its insurer, Scottsdale Insurance, is liable for "failure to properly maintain its building" and "maintaining a hazardous condition upon the premises," among other allegations.

The accident was a result of "the ruin of the building where the incident occurred," the suit claims.

The lawsuit doesn't specify an amount of damage.

Orleans Parish Judge Rosemary Ledet is assigned to this case.
