Offshore worker suing for more than $1million after falling from stairwell

An offshore worker is suing his employer for more than $1 million after he fell from a stairwell on an offshore platform.

Jerald Johnson filed suit against ENI US Operating Co. Inc. on July 11 in federal court in New Orleans.

Johnson states he was seriously injured while working on the "Devil's Tower." According to the lawsuit, he fell from an exterior stairwell, located on the production side of the offshore structure.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking more than $1 million in damages for mental suffering, loss of wages, loss of wage earning capacity, loss of fringe benefits, permanent disability, medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life, interest and court costs.

Johnson is represented by Timothy K. Lamy of Barker, Boudreaux, Lamy & Foley in New
Orleans.

U.S. District Judge Jay C. Zainey is assigned to the case.
