Nearly $5.5 million in Gulf Coast Claims Facility (GCCF) payments in Louisiana have been seized by the state of Louisiana to cover unpaid child support payments, the state Department of Family and Child Services announced.
Executive Director Lisa Andry announced that Louisiana has some $1.2 billion in unpaid child support claims.
The GCCF has paid out over $5 billion in claims to individuals across the Gulf Coast.
Around 9,400 people with outstanding child support payments have applied for GCCF payments.
The largest individual payment that has been collected was for just over $33,000.
The Department of Family and Child Services also announced that it will begin taking payments from delinquent parents' casino winnings over $1,200.
