NEW ORLEANS - After falling from a collapsed walkway, a wireline helper has filed a lawsuit against the owners of a well platform for failing to maintain the walkway's grating.
Harry C. Savoy filed suit against Swift Energy Operating a/k/a Swift Energy Co., ABC Insurance Co. and Bryon Ragas on Dec. 20 in Plaquemines Parish District Court. The defendant removed the case to federal court in New Orleans on Jan. 20.
The alleged incident occurred on Dec. 21, 2010 while Savory working as a wireline helper for Quality Energy Services. He states he was on the walkway grating of a well platform when the walkway collapsed and he fell into the well area.
The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to provide a proper and safe workplace, failing to properly inspect the well platform, failing to maintain the grating, for failing to implement and adopt proper and safe rules, regulations, policies, practices and procedures, for failing to properly and adequately hire, train, supervise and manage its employees and agents, and for failing to warn users of the subject premises.
The plaintiff is asking the Court for an award of damages for medical expenses, physical therapy expenses, rehabilitation, loss of employability, loss of past and future income and benefits, impaired earning capacity, physical pain and suffering, disability, emotional and psychological anguish and distress, loss of enjoyment of life, interest and court costs.

U.S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan is assigned to the case.
