Elevator malfunction leads to suit against Harrah's New Orleans Casino

NEW ORLEANS – A resident of Orleans Parish is suing Harrah's New Orleans Casino for an alleged incident that occurred at the casino's parking garage on Tchoupitoulas Street and which resulted in injuries.

Claudean S. Capers filed a lawsuit against Jazz Casino Company, LLC, commonly known as Harrah's Casino, Schindler Elevator Companyand their insurers in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Aug. 27.

Capers claims her right arm was injured as a result of elevator doors at the Harrah's parking garage slamming shut on it without any warning.

The defendants are accused of failure to properly maintain and service the elevator, failure to inspect the elevator and its component parts and failure to warn elevator users of the hazardous condition of the elevator.

An unspecified amount is sought for medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish, humiliation and embarrassment, and loss of earning capacity.
