Workboat passenger sues for $2 million after rough water aggravates back injury

NEW ORLEANS - A work boat passenger has filed a lawsuit seeking $2 million claiming rough water aggravated an injury to his back.

Timmy St. Pierre filed suit against Blanchard Contractors Inc. on Nov. 9 in federal court in New Orleans.

The alleged incident occurred on March 9, as St. Pierre was riding as a passenger in Blanchard Contractor's work boat when it encountered rough water.

The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to furnish St. Pierre a safe place to work and for failing to properly operate the work boat.

The plaintiff is seeking an award for mental and physical pain and suffering, lost wages, medical expenses, found, loss of enjoyment of life, attorney's fees, punitive damages, court costs and interest.

St. Pierre is represented by Thomas M. Discon of Discon Law Firm in Mandeville.

U.S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan is assigned to the case.
