Behrman Highway Wal-Mart sued over slip and fall incident

NEW ORLEANS – Wal-Mart is being sued by a woman claiming she suffered injuries in a slip and fall at a local retailer.

Margaret Davis filed a lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Wal-Mart Louisiana, LLC, John Doe and their insurer. Davis claims that while shopping at a store located at 4001 Behrman Place in New Orleans she slipped on a foreign substance and fell to the floor.

The defendant is accused of failure to provide and maintain safe conditions for their customers, failure to timely inspect the area of the fall, failure to warn patrons of this hazardous situation and failure to remedy a hazardous condition.

An unspecified amount is sought for pain and suffering, medical expenses and permanent disability.

The plaintiff is represented by Jeanne K. Demarest of New Orleans-based Alvendia, Kelly & Demarest.

This case has been assigned to Division H Judge Michael G. Bagneris.

Case no. 2012-08592.
