Canal Street construction project catalyst for lawsuit alleging injuries

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish woman claims a water leak from a Canal Street construction site was the cause of injuries she sustained in a slip and fall incident.

Erin Moreau filed a lawsuit against Carriere-Strum, LLC and the McDonnel Group, LLC in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Sept. 7. Moreau alleges she slipped and fell in the pedestrian walkway in front of the Joy Theater on Canal where the defendants were responsible for construction that yielded a water leak into the walkway. She sustained injuries to the knees and lumbar spine.

The defendant is accused of creating a hazardous condition, failure to warn and acting in a negligent manner.

An unspecified amount is sought for pain and suffering, lost wage and disability.

The plaintiff is represented by David W. Bernberg of the Law Offices of David Bernberg.

This case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin, Chief Judge.

Case no. 2012-08608.
