NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish woman, on behalf of her minor daughter, is suing a Metairie skincare company for alleged first degree burns her daughter received during a treatment.
Yvette Bass, individually and on behalf of her minor child Brittany Bass, filed a lawsuit against Bellus ALC of Louisiana LLC, commonly known as, American Laser Skincare in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Dec. 5. The plaintiffs claim that during a laser hair removal treatment provided by defendants her daughter was left with first degree burns to her face resulting in permanent scarring.
The defendant is accused of failing to ensure the laser removal system was properly calibrated, failing to identify that the laser was burning the plaintiff during the procedure, failing to properly treat the burns, failing to advise of the risks associated with the procedure and failing to properly supervise and train its employees and aestheticians.
An undisclosed sum is sought for all damages including, but not exclusively, permanent disfigurement and scarring, medical expenses, pain and suffering and mental anguish.
The plaintiff is represented by M. Suzanne Montero of the New Orleans-based Law Offices of chip Forstall.
This case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates.
Case no. 2012-11321.
