NEW ORLEANS – A man is suing his former employer and former coworker after a fight ensued aboard a seagoing ship.
Floyd Turner filed suit against Bisso Marine Co. and Joshua Terrebonne in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.
According to the complaint, Turner was employed as a rigger on May 1 when Terrebonne allegedly struck him with knife-tipped brass knuckles. The plaintiff claims to have suffered injury to his face and mouth.
The defendant is accused of failing to provide a reasonably safe place to work, of failing to supervise, educate, and train employees properly, of failing to ensure that their policies or procedures were carried out if they had a policy, of breach of legally imposed duty of reasonable care, of placing plaintiff in an unsafe and precarious position, of failing to provide a seaworthy vessel and, in the case of Terrebonne, hitting a defenseless person with brass knuckles.
An unspecified amount of damages is sought for physical and mental pain and suffering, past, future, and present, permanent injury, medical expenses, past, future, and present, loss of enjoyment of life, lost wages and the cost of the proceedings.
The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Lloyd J. Medley.
Turner is represented by Michael S. Koch of the Alexandria firm Neblett, Beard and Arsenault.
