NEW ORLEANS – A West Bank hospital is being sued along with one of its physicians is involved in a medical malpractice suit filed by a woman claiming her surgical procedure was improperly performed.
Latanya Fountain and two of her her minor children as well as her adult son Troy Dorsey Jr. filed a lawsuit against Ochsner Clinic Foundation – Westbank Campus and Washington Bryan M.D.
Fountain claims the defendants failed to properly perform a ventral herniorrhapy, bilateral tubal ligation and mini laparotomy on her that resulted in severe physical and monetary damages.
Oschner and Dr. Bryan are accused of failing to properly perform the aforementioned medical procedures, failing to properly and timely diagnose and treat the cause of severe pain, swelling and disfigurement of the Fountain's abdominal area, failing to timely and properly refer her to a consultant, failing to get informed consent for the procedure scheduled and performed and failing to provide staff with the requisite skills needed to perform the surgical procedures.
An unspecified amount is sought for all damages including emotional distress, depression, severe pain and suffering, medical expenses, additional surgeries, disfigurement, loss of wages and loss of earning capacity.
The Fountain's children claim loss of consortium, severe emotional distress and mental anguish.
The plaintiff is represented by attorney Harry D. Forst of New Orleans.
