NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing the owners and operators of a New Orleans business center claiming she was severely injured on their premises.
Patricia G. Matherne filed a lawsuit against IPC New Orleans I LLC, IPC NOI LLC, Behringer Harvard Real Estate Services LLC and IPC Real Estate Management LLC in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Feb. 13.
The plaintiff claims that while entering the lobby of the Entergy Centre she tripped and fell because of upturned edges of a rubber mat used by the defendants due to an uneven walking surface. As a result of the fall, Matherne claims to have sustained injuries to her chest, cervical area and shoulders as well as multiple abrasions.
The defendant is accused of failing to properly construct, maintain and repair the building’s patron entry in a condition safe for its intended use, failing to properly inspect and protect patrons from injury and failing to warn patrons of the existing danger.
An unspecified amount is sought for all damages including pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, physical injury, permanent disabilities, medical expenses and lost wages.
The plaintiff is represented by Kevin M. Wheeler of New Orleans-based Taggart Morton LLC.
This case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
