NEW ORLEANS – An Ohio woman is suing a New Orleans location of a international hotel chain for damages she supposedly sustained an injury in the hotel’s pool area.
Gretna Noakes filed a lawsuit against Marriot International Inc., New Orleans Marriot and their insurer in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Mar. 13. Noakes claims that she tripped and fell on a brick step in the defendant’s pool area which resulted in the severe hand injury.
The defendant is accused of failing to maintain safe conditions on the walkways of said premises, failing to inspect the safety and walkways of said premises, failing to have appropriate warnings of the existing conditions and failing to have the proper protective devices in the area to protect against falls.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for severe and painful permanent injury, loss of wages, disability, loss of earning capacity and medical expenses.
The plaintiff is represented by Adam H. Weintraub of New Orleans-based Herman Herman & Katz LLC.
This case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
