Local golf club sued by woman who allegedly tripped on rebar sticking out of sidewalk

GRETNA – A Kenner golf club is being sued by a woman who claims she was injured after tripping on a defective sidewalk.

Kum Song filed suit against Allied World Assurance Company Inc., Chateau Inc. and Chateau Golf & Country Club in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 16.

Song claims that she was walking at the Chateau Golf & Country Club located at 3600 Chateau Blvd. in Kenner when she tripped on a half inch piece of rebar that was sticking out of a sidewalk on the property. The plaintiff alleges she received a severe injury to her ankle.

The defendant is accused of failing to inspect and maintain its grounds and premises in a safe and clean condition, failing to warn patrons of foreseeable hazards, failing to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition, failing to use ordinary carte in the maintenance of the premises, failing to inspect the business premises and failing to take the necessary precautions to avoid incidents.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental pain and anguish, physical pain and suffering, loss of function, medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life and lost wages.

Song is represented by T. Daniel Pick of New Orleans-based Wolfe, Begoun & Pick LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee V. Faulkner Jr.
