Woman sues Loyola University after falling on uneven sidewalk

NEW ORLEANS – A woman who tripped and fell on an elevated portion of sidewalk outside of the Loyola University campus police station is suing the university.

Lisa Bodellini filed suit against Loyola University New Orleans and United Educators Insurance Risk Retention Group Inc. in the Orleans Parish Civil District on Aug. 21.

On Sept. 19, 2012, the plaintiff allegedly tripped and fell on an elevated portion of sidewalk in front of the campus police station on the grounds of Loyola University. The fall resulted in serious personal injury, according to the complaint.

The defendant is accused of failing to remove hazards from the area, failing to warn, failing to inspect, failing to provide a clean, clear, and unobstructed passageway and permitting a hazardous condition to exist under the circumstances.

The plaintiff seeks $50,000 in damages for past, present, and future mental and physical pain and suffering, physical disability, medical expenses, lost wages and lost earning capacity.

The plaintiff is represented by attorney Clifford E. Cardone of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Michael G. Bagneris.
